More brilliance: Elisa Lam was the unwitting secret guinea pig for a new TB vaccine that went wrong and caused her psychotic break, leading to her death. That is why the TB screening kits used on locals a mere 2 weeks after her death were named LAM-ELISA.
I wish I could be as scientifically open-minded as this oaf.

The Interskull Transmission ilk were claiming to be better scientists than the sceptics, because their minds are more 'open' which is what you need to do science.

Thanks, bruu, for bringing this to our attention.
Elisa's disappearance, the video, etc, are interesting. Obviously there is a logical explanation, probably involving a mixture of her having some sort of psychotic episode (history of depression/bipolar, plus prescribed with a number of drugs linked to psychosis in some people) and either suicide or a horrible accident in the water towers. We will almost certainly never know.
However, what has really fascinated me are the comments on the many websites discussing the case. What struck me is that even though posters point out the glaring inaccuracies in the 'sexed up' version of events asserted by the more excitable conspiracy theorists, those same confabulations keep getting repeated over and over again, no matter how often the myths are put to bed.
For example "She couldn't have got past the locked door and alarm system to access the roof" (there is an easily accessible fire escape stair case)
"What happened to her clothes? They were missing!" (They were found in the tank with her body)
"She could not have lifted up the metal lid on the water tower in order to climb in" (yes she could - the reported 'extreme heaviness' of the lid is a myth)
"There was a TB outbreak 2 weeks after she went missing and the vaccine they used was labelled LAM-ELISA. What does this mean??!" (Nothing, you dopey prats - it's a coincidence)
I have read various theories put forward by people on those websites including
1) malign spirit possession (the same evil spirits that drove Richard Ramirez and some other serial killer who stayed at the same hotel, plus a few suicides and a murder-rape)
2) Eliza TIME TRAVELLED away from the hotel, but somehow still ended up in the tank (couldn't quite follow that one, my eyes were watering with laughter)
3) Some shadowy organisation was carrying out 'interskull transmission capabilities' on Elisa. Why 'Elisa' wasn't made clear. Or what was being transmitted.
4) It was probably them damn Mexicans (from a woman posting from Brazil)
If anybody has a bit of time to waste and fancies a giggle at the cybersleuths' expense, I thoroughly recommend googling and reading some of those sites.

Fair enough nurse. I saw some ropey (no pun intended) documentary on it years ago, other than that don't know too much about it other than that the witches didn't have magical powers.

cholo, there is a pretty reasonable theory in some quarters that ergot poisoning started the whole thing off. People acting out. There have been similar ergot poisoning episodes in Europe.

Yeh, they also had shit like henbane and of course mushrooms of various types.
I thought the Salem witch trials were more to do with local feuds and persecution than actual 'spooky' goings on?

They didnt have meth but sometimes grain crops were afflicted with a fungus called ergot, the active ingredient of which is basically LSD. Hence the Salem witch trials

As for elisa lam, thought that was a straight forward case of death by misadventure. Access to the roof then the tanks was easier than reported and clothes were found in the tank when it was falsely reported none were found.
She got a bit too curious, fell in and drowned, case closed.
The cctv footage is just her not being able to operate the lift for some reason. Which added to the mystery.
